The Third Annual Songs For Sean Songwriter Night was a hit! Our artists this year were Dave Turnbull and the father/son combo of Billy and Randy Montana. The evening started with a cocktail hour and dinner hosted at the Richland Country Club, and led straight into our musicians performing some of their many hit songs for us! This year, we were also graced with the attendance of Dr. Patrick Grohar. Dr. Grohar is a renowned Ewing Sarcoma researcher who also serves as medical advisor on the Sean Karl Foundation board. Our musicians went back and forth playing their songs and giving us insight into where the inspiration came for them, as well as a little about how certain artists picked them up and decided to record them. Some of the hits that were played included “The Boys of Fall,” “Lucky Man,” “Hard to Love,” and “More Than a Memory.” The evening wrapped up with a live auction of an autographed guitar and two autographed, hand-written lyrics. Overall, we raised $55,000 towards our million dollar initiative!
None of this would be possible without the generosity of YOU, our patrons, who continue to inspire and motivate us to continue Sean’s fight. We also have to take a second to thank our musicians, sponsors for the event, and all of our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes (and in front of them sometimes) to put on such an incredible evening!
As Mike Karl said to kick things off, we are doing this, not to bring Sean back, but to try to prevent this happening to another family. So thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at our spring time golf outing!
